Recreation
Recreational activities are important providing us with enjoyment, amusement or pleasure whether done with old friends or as a way to make new ones - humans need these little bits of joy as a ‘pickmeup’ and our focus is to get them happening through dance!
Lincolnshire Dance realise that people of every age group have busy lives and therefore need to slot in leisure activities when they can. We therefore do our best to arrange dance classes, in various styles, at different times and in different locations - all taught in a way which is accessible and enjoyable!
Children and Young People
The Lincolnshire Dance team work closely with the Lincolnshire Music Service and the CfBT Arts Teams to develop many ways for young people to dance for fun or more seriously as the first step to a career in dance. We host a number of events across the County. Opportunities for young people to dance are also included in our Dance4Life and Aiming Higher Programmes. Read More
Freedom in Dance
Dance isn't just for young people. Freedom in Dance, our programme for people over 50, or thereabouts, is focused on providing chances for people to keep, or start dancing as they get older. With projections for the population of Lincolnshire showing that by 2020, there will be 73,000 more older people living in the county than in 2006! it is important that we develop recreational activities specifically for this group! The Freedom in Dance programme has a proven record of providing opportunities for them to make new friends and connections in the community. Read More.
Dance 4 Life
Dance4Life, funded by Lincolnshire's Health and Wellbeing fund has elements which make it easier for people to dance for leisure. The team has undertaken extensive research to find out which areas of Lincolnshire are most in need of dance opportunities so we can connect with people there and make sure that nobody needs to miss out. The Buddy Scheme enables people to give their time to support others who may be a little nervous about starting classes to do so and number of projects with young people gives those from every background the chance to participate. Aiming Higher
As part of Lincolnshire County Council’s Short Breaks Programme, Lincolnshire Dance undertakes weekly dance classes for young people with disabilities across the county. Alongside care workers, dance practitioners lead the classes with young people who have complex health needs and challenging behaviours. Our aim is that the young people become more active learners, develop confidence and have an enjoyable time. Five groups are held across the County. Read More.
