Dance Practitioners
Since our inception, it has been the role of Lincolnshire Dance to provide support to new and established dance practitioners in the county. We have helped to build and empower careers by offering consultation, a range of CPD (Continued Professional Development) opportunities and employment contracts so that dancers can earn a living as a dancer based in Lincolnshire, which all means that the public can have more opportunities to watch and take part in dance led by skilled and informed dancers.
Within Dance4Life, we offer opportunities to local practitioners who need support to boost numbers attending their classes in their local area. As part of our focus areas initiative, we promote the instructor and their dance style through taster sessions within the community and then offer them a ten week pilot programme if the session is well received. This has proven to be a successful method of developing dance opportunities for people in communities across Lincolnshire, as well as establishing a firm connection between the practitioner and his or her audience.
As part of the Freedom in Dance programme, we give practitioners the chance to develop their professional skills and achieve a qualification which provides them with the skills, knowledge and understanding to lead inspiring dance activities with people as they get older. For the student’s convenience, we strive to work out a payment plan which suits their individual financial situation. Following completion, Lincolnshire Dance continue to support the career of the practitioner to ensure they have the best chance of a flourishing career.
A new course begins in November 2011 and places are still available. Please contact the FID coordinator Lisa Hurst on 01522 811811 or email freedom@lincolnshiredance.com.
Volunteer Opportunities
We offer a number of voluntary opportunities which help dance practitioners to gain skills which will increase their chances of employment and mean that they and we can get to know each other better. The precise nature of these depend on the aspirations of the professional dancer.
Surgery Days
The Director of Lincolnshire Dance Keyna Paul, holds regular surgery days throughout the year where dancers, or those who would like to earn a living through dance, can have a one-to-one discussion with her. Keyna, along with the rest of the team, endeavor to provide support to all practitioners at every stage of their career so that they reach their full potential.
