Arts
Lincolnshire Dance is closely connected with the arts community and profession locally and nationally. We have championed the development of dance as an art form within dance activities in the County and artistic integrity is central to all our programmes. We offer a range of experiences, from those which give a chance for people to take their first steps in exploring the arts, to more innovative and challenging experiences.
Freedom In Dance
Freedom in Dance, our programme for people over 50, or thereabouts!, is focused on providing chances for people to keep, or start dancing as they get older. Feedback has taught us that older people appreciate chances to celebrate their individuality and renew their creativity with peers. Using a range of dance styles to suit the needs of participants the Freedom in Dance programme has a proven track record of providing opportunities for people to make new friends and connections in the community. Some participants have even undertaken training with us to kick start a second career! Read More.
Dance 4 Life
Dance4Life classes provide some people with their first engagement with the arts. Classes not only improve participants' health and well-being but also broaden their horizons and open doors to other activities. The programme explores an unlimited range of dance styles with the aim to develop a thriving, creative atmosphere within every class and project. Read More.
Aiming Higher
As part of Lincolnshire County Council’s Short Breaks Programme, Lincolnshire Dance undertakes weekly dance classes for young people with disabilities across the county. Alongside care support workers, dance practitioners lead the classes with young people who have complex health needs and challenging behaviours. Using a range of creative and more structured tasks specially developed for the individual participants in each group the young people are supported to become more active learners, develop confidence and have an enjoyable time. Five groups are held across the County. Read More.
Children and Young People
As part of our Children and Young People’s programme, we always try to bring arts orientated opportunities to our younger generation. Whether it is part of a large inter-generational piece or as a workshop which collaborates with other art forms, it is our objective to give young people a platform to experience and experiment with the arts. It is vital that young people have the chance to become engaged with the arts as early as possible so that their future passions for dance and other art forms can continue to grow into adulthood. Something Different
As part of the role we play in the communities across Lincolnshire, we endeavour to make dance opportunities more accessible to all ages. Within this, we are open to developing ventures which may give participants the chance to engage with projects unlike anything they may have experienced before within dance and the arts.
We are always doing our best to find creative people and organisations to work with as we continue to try and put Lincolnshire on the map in the world of dance. We have been lucky enough to work with many in the past and are positive about our future ventures. Keep updated about our latest events and projects by checking our What’s On page. Read More.
