About Aiming Higher

As part of Lincolnshire County Council’s Short Breaks, Lincolnshire Dance's Aiming Higher programme is a series of dynamic dance sessions for young people with disabilities. The aim of these classes is to deliver an opportunities for young people with special needs to embrace dance and music and to explore new ways of interacting and expressing themselves.

Evaluation with some of the existing participants has shown significant improvements in movement, confidence and expression both in class and at home. The classes also give parents a respite, allowing them to leave their children in capable hands.

For just £3.50 a session, participants and their siblings, have the opportunity to benefit from enjoyable activities which promote movement and fun.

All Are Welcome

Each group is led by a team of experience dancers and care workers supported by volunteers. Young people with disabilities such as cognitive and sensory impairments, movement and handling needs as well as those who require palliative care, are welcome to come along and try the class nearest to their home.

We are always looking for new participants to join classes and welcome those who want to try out the sessions to see how it can be beneficial in a variation of ways.

Five dance groups have been established in Boston, Horncastle, Lincoln, Scredington and Bourne for local children and young people with multiple special health needs.  Siblings and friends are also welcome
